CAN YOU HEAR THE FROGS?

Whoa, rain is beatin' against the windows and they're rattlin' from the wind blowin' against 'em, I think we're havin' a Spring time storm here. We've got a tornado warnin' in the county just east of us. It was windy and cloudy here all day but the temps were in the low 70's so it was pretty nice out.

I went for a walk around our hay field, earlier in the day. I mow walkin' paths around it all summer and it makes it easy to walk all year long, and I could hear the frogs carryin' on. I love that noise. It's a good Spring/Summer sound The tree frogs and cicadas are two of my favorite summer time sounds. I also like the little brown shell of a body the cicadas shed after comin' up from the ground. My granddaughter loves to look for them and she puts them in a box or bucket and saves them. She's funny.

I love the sound of kids playin' outside in warm weather and the sound of lawnmowers, other than mine, off in the distance, and the smell of fresh cut grass.

I love the smell of fresh cut hay and there is hardly a prettier site than a freshly cut hayfield with bales of hay sittin' out across it.

There are so many memories, things we do or sounds we hear that we associate with Summer. What are your favorites? What makes you feel like Summer has truly arrived?

Well, we've been having 60's all week here. We've even had the windows open at night...that's nice being able to feel and smell the fresh air. In Spring, I always look for the first robin. I'm not sure what I think of as the sign of summer. Actually, probably that urge to always want the A/C on! :)

What a nice post!

I think my favorite sound of all is when it's really quiet - no kids, no cars, no lawn mowers, no barking dogs, nothing but the songs of all of the different birds. Temps have been back up here again and they have been singing away the past few days. I keep a pair of binoculars at the back door all the time to watch them and the other day I counted 30 little finches in the yard! I was like the yard was crawling. Had a woodpecker the other day and a male & female pair of cardinals. I have a group of about a dozen very FAT doves that visit every morning and every afternoon. They know where to come and eat LOL!! I just love all of them!

The Gulf is one block south of me but we are also surrounded by bayous all around us and once after a long overdue rain I wish you coulda heard the frogs Rebel - it was so loud and so freaky that it was as if we were in the middle of some horror movie I swear!!

Those cicada shells still kinda freak me out though - last year I had them all over my wooden fence. They've always given me the heebies LOL!

Really was thinking about what's really important in life after I read this post. I love listening to the rain, the quiet that I have all to myself in the mornings, wind blowing through the trees, my chimes, and the voices of my grandchildren. I enjoyed this post very much.

Mmmm... there is NOTHING better than the sound of frogs by a creek or pond. Nothing. Doves cooing in a tree outside my window are a distant second. But i adore frogs.

Hope you didn't get any of the bad stuff. It seems everyone around us was getting winds and hail.

Amazinigly, there was a little tree frog sitting on my front door window waiting for me when I got home last night. Now that is a good thing!

We had frogs here too!

When I first moved to Missouri, those frogs and night time noises seemed so loud. We had to keep turning up the t.v., but now six years later, it's like regular noise and we look forward to it every year...

Your questions me think really hard to find the answer. I am not quite sure at the moment as the weather here is very cloudy, raining, and still a bit chilly. But, I can see that some of my summer fruit start having blossoms...
Cheers,

I'm looking forward to iced tea, lemonade, and sangria.

The farmers' market.

Home Grown Tomatoes.

Wilted Lettuce (You know, the kind with a bacon, bacon grease, green onion, vinegar, and sugar dressing)

My hammock

I can't wait until spring and I can smell the lilacs.

Thanks for getting me to think about such joyous things.
