Winter's Here

Ok, so they were forcastin' all kinds of gloom and doom here the last couple of days. We got a lot of gloom but not much doom, at least in my neck of the woods. Springfield, where my husband drives into work, got a little more than us.

But we did get enough ice that when I stepped out on the deck steps, the next thing I knew I was at the bottom, AND my butt never touched the ground! Don't ask me how that worked. It just about gave me a heart attack though. From now on, I'm goin' out the back porch way. It's concrete but it has an old cistern under it and it keeps the concrete warmer so that nothin' stays on it for long. Safer for less 'graceful' exits.

But the ice and lite snow are pretty. I know, I know. I need to get my bench and chairs in.

It's hard to see but there are bird feeders in there. I can see them from my kitchen window.

Here's my icy deck.

I love my little red barn/chicken house. It looks pretty with snow.

Oh my I am glad you didn't bust your rump like I did....well not really my rump but my knee & toe! It always seems like when all around us they get some pretty snow....we end up with the sleet, ice, hail and whatever else can make the roads slippery.

Your ice/snow looks beautiful. I want snow!!!!

You could always tie a pillow around your backend to soften any falls! Hopefully you won't have any though!

Love the pics and that little red barn seems like it's begging to get it's picture taken!

Love the pics!! Those are beautiful - thanks for sharing. Your land is nice, love the red barn, and you have chickens!!! You must post about them and share some pictures some time. I wish I had some chickens but I have to get some land first. I could never kill one though, somebody else would have to do that, but I'd sure love some hens for eggs. That sure does look cold though. Glad you didn't hurt yourself.
